RAW BEAUTY: ALEXANDRA SPENCER

Alexandra Spencer is one of those girls that guys fall over themselves chasing and girls dream of being. Not only is she a regulation hottie but she is incredibly well spoken, creating all the content for her personal blog 4th and Bleeker. This model is also a talent behind the lens, shooting campaigns for Cotton On and one of my favourite labels Friend of Mine as well as regularly taking candids and self portraits for her blog.

And let's just talk about her style for a second - girl really knows how to do sexy but never distasteful. After Christine Centenera she tops my list of people's wardrobes I want to raid. She is my style muse and epitomises the way that I want to dress: effortless and classic but never boring. I also never really 'got' the whole sports luxe thing until she turned up to MBFWA last year in the Celine Dion hockey jersey that started it all - honestly one of my favourite fashion moments ever.

Despite her busy schedule and with a tonne of exciting projects lined up, Alex was lovely enough to answer some questions. We talk her favourite beauty products, words of wisdom, Diplo and what the future holds for her. Having achieved so many incredible things already at just 24 years old, there's no doubt it'll be one hell of a bright one for Miss Spencer.

Keep reading to learn more about this incredible lady!

A FRESH START

This is just a little post to let you all know that yes, I am indeed alive! Or I will be once I get the two essays I have due on Friday done and dusted. I’ve been thinking so much lately on improving my life for the better and there have been some really exciting things going for me lately!

I’ve also fully committed myself to quitting sugar. I had previously dabbled in the IQS lifestyle for the past two months after buying the wonderful Sarah Wilson’s e-books but always found myself making excuses and indulging in “just a little bit” of sugar when in reality all those little bits really added up. I’m not going to lie; the sugar-free life is hard – especially when you eat out as much as I do combined with the fact that it's my job to sell macarons! However, it’s forced me to start making my own meals and being conscious of what kinds of things are in certain foods too. I really want to focus on becoming healthier and have been really wary of what I’ve been putting into my body. I’m happy to keep you updated on my progress if you’d like to hear more about that!

I’m starting a new chapter in my life and I’d really like to share my journey to becoming healthier, happier and better overall with you beautiful people, so be on the lookout for more lifestyle posts here on Oh My Gilded! Of course I will still be posting regularly on fashion and beauty and all those wonderful, happy things but I also really want to make this blog reflective of my life and what I’m interested in and that's what I've really been getting into lately.

I really can’t thank you all enough for being so supportive of me, sticking by me and being such lovely readers! I can’t wait to bring you more posts that I hope inspire you as much as you inspire me!

Love and light,
Emily xx

WINTER ARSENAL

I've never seen an episode of Game of Thrones in my life, but thanks to the power of the Internet and social media I've become well acquainted with the "Winter is coming" quote.

There's a chill in the air in Sydney town of late and it's a sign that my favourite season autumn (mainly due to the fact that my birthday is in May) is coming to a close and we now have to start layering up. I've always been a fan of baring shoulders and/or legs so this transition is particularly tough on me.

I've compiled a mini wishlist for winter to make myself feel a little better about the cooler months that are approaching and I've only just realised that it consists of all black errrthang. Fitting, as this is pretty much my failsafe combination of colours (or lack of, rather).

Clockwise from left:

Celeste Tesoreiro Secret Valley Necklace
I've loved Celeste's blog for what feels like years now and her namesake label showcases her gorgeous clothing and jewellery designs that stays true to killer style. I've always been a fan of quartz jewellery and this silver chained beauty is perfection!

Dannika Zen Noir Jacket
I have never been disappointed with a Dannika Zen purchase. Although I may be on a uni student budget, I feel that Dannika's pieces are so worth the price tag and are items of clothing that you will love more and more over time. This Italian wool and leather mix jacket is the ultimate, I'll be comparing every jacket I see to this one right here. There's something so sexy about it and I love the unisex feel to it. And I'm sure it would keep me ridiculously warm during the winter...

Bombardier Designs French Vanilla Soy Candle
I may be sugar-free at the moment but that doesn't mean I can't indulge in a bit of sweetness. These candles from Bombardier Designs are my absolute favourites. Gorgeous packaging and in the most delicious scents, really what's not to love? The French Vanilla in particular is so comforting and homely, there's nothing like filling a room with the scent of a beautiful candle.

Proenza Schouler PS11 Classic in Black Leather
When I saw this glorious thing in David Jones in the city I fell in love. The only thing was stopping me from purchasing was the $2499.00 price tag. Since that fateful day I haven't stopped thinking about it. When I first saw it online I thought it would be too small to fit my everyday essentials as I'm used to toting around EVERYTHING with me at all times. However, in person, it is the perfect size to fit everything that I really need to be carrying. Downsizing may prove a bit of a challenge but with this beauty in my possession I think I'd be able to do it.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone
There is nothing I love more than a good highlighter. I've stayed faithful to my trusty NARS Copacobana multiple for almost two years now and while I love that stuff to death, I think it's time for a change. Enter Shimmering Skin Perfector. It's liquid consistency is a dream to blend into the skin and also works well when mixed in with liquid foundation to give a gorgeous glowing complexion - you gotta love a multitasking product! After all, I'll need something to help brighten up my days when the weather begins looking dull!

Willow Work Shoes in Black
So these may not be the most practical choice for a winter shoe, but I'll risk freezing my feet off in these beautiful, beautiful things. I've been wanting a great pair of criss-crossed lace-up booties for about two seasons now and the shoe gods have finally listened and delivered these incredible boots. Although not sure if they heard me when I said I was a uni student. I can definitely justify the $595 though because I'm sure I will get a great work out from these babies. I mean if I wear them every day for 2 years that's, what, 81c per wear? Sounds like a done deal.
